We Have A Store Card Exchange!
The card exchange theme changes monthly, so to be notified about dates and themes, send an email to the store nardella@bellnet.ca.
Can be stamped, stitched, sewn….see rules below.
The cards are due after the monthly stamp of the month demonstration, which is usually the first Sunday of the month. We have a coffee gathering around 11:30am at the store. The coffee is always optional, if you can't make it, you can place your cards in the mailboxes we hang up on the bulletin board at the back of the store. You'll be able to pick up your cards here too.
Information Sheet
Card exchanges are an opportunity for new and experienced card makers to participate in an activity that challenges them to make a set of cards. Most people need deadlines. With a definite due date, the exchange creates an incentive to create and finish cards.
In a card exchange you are given a theme and asked to make a set of identical cards (usually 8-10.) In this exchange, I am going to ask that each card feature some rubberstamping.
The card exchange I am organizing will be as follows. I would like nine people to be in an exchange. You will make ten cards; one for each of the participants in your exchange and one for me to display in our new “card creations” section. The participants will have a “mailbox” in the store. I will be hanging an envelope (your mailbox) with your name on it on the back bulletin board. You will insert/deliver your cards to everyone’s mailbox/envelope by the due date.
This is such an exciting way to see what others are doing. If you are a beginner, you will receive nine great cards to inspire you. If you are experienced, the deadline will challenge you to keep honing your card making skills to create better and more elaborate cards.
I started card making by signing up for exchanges…and today I make an average 100 to 300 cards monthly.
We can meet for coffee and a show and tell on the day the cards are due. If you can’t make the coffee, you can still deliver your cards, but I will ask you not to open your mail until after the due date.
Rules:
1. It goes without saying that in any given month people have issues that pop up which may result in them missing the deadline. I have found in other exchanges that people can get quite upset if they give someone a card and do not receive one in exchange. If you miss the deadline without telling me in advance that there is an issue, you will not be invited to participate a second time. If you have a really good reason, please email me so I can tell the rest of the members in the exchange. Then they can decide to give you a card knowing that they will not receive one this month because you have a family crisis or illness. In other words, people just like to know their card is going to a good home.
2. The card exchange is taking place in A Scrapbookers Dream. I would like you to only use rubber stamps that you have purchased here in the store. I have two reasons for this request. The first is that I would like to display the cards, and cannot if the image you pick is not available here in the store. It is very difficult for the staff when someone points to an image and they don’t know where the rubber came from. The second reason is out of respect. I want to thank Elizabeth for allowing me to start this card exchange here in her store.
We are a wonderful, fun card exchange group that meets once a month at A Scrapbooker's Dream in Bolton. This is our unofficial place to play, exchange ideas and socialize in between meetings.
